The Oil and Gas industry benefits our lives in many ways, supplying energy to power industry and homes, fuel for transport commercially and privately and raw materials used to produce everyday items. The industry provides an estimated 195,000 jobs in Scotland including the wider economy and service sector, with Aberdeen being one of the largest energy hubs in the world and paying some of the highest salaries in the country across multiple disciplines such as subsea, marine, geosciences, health & safety, drilling, refinery and support services.

Demand for staff across Oil & Gas is currently very high, but so is the demand for quality hence the need for industry recruiters with a sound knowledge base and passion for this sector.

Scotland continues to strive for developments in other areas of energy production, investing into Renewables, Hydro, Wind and Wave & Tidal Energy which creates more jobs for skilled workers and enhancing it as an export product, with 24% of our electricity being exported in 2009 and Scotland possessing 25% of Europe’s off-shore wind resources, 25% of Europe’s tidal power and 10% of Europe’s wave power. We are seeing a gradual growth in recruiters specialising in this sector which is still very much seen as niche.
